Cambridgeshire elite golfers ventured out into their new world of competitive golf after the restrictions due to COVID-19 earlier in the season. The Summer Series was set up to prepare for what remains of the County team season in September.
Hosting the first series was Brampton PK GC which was in excellent condition. In ideal scoring conditions the course was there for the taking.
Under 18 county player Harry O’Shea from Links GC set the early pace with a fine 69 gross. Away at golf college he has been in excellent club form and this continued in the series. Three birdies in his round meant he won the U21 prize and finished third gross.
Joe York from Gog Magog GC straight from his last county victory in one of the Winter series was at his powerful best . He shot five birdies in a 68 to come second gross.
The series went to Alex Kephart from the USA with a blistering 67. The new Gog Magog member slotting him 6 birdies in a pin seeking display of iron play. He also won nearest the pin at the two par threes.
The nett prize went to William Mckernan from Saffron Walden GC with a gross 73 nett 68.
The series now moves to St Ives GC on Friday 31 st July.
