Hedges does the double at Girton GC

The CAGU Seniors Autumn meeting took place at Girton GC last Monday, playing for the John Durman Scratch and Handicap Trophies.

After a season interrupted by COVID-19 Girton GC must be thanked for hosting this event in order to minimise travel away from Cambridgeshire whilst providing hospitality for a local club.

Out first our Midland Senior representative and current County Champion, Jeremy Baldwin, went out in 34 and came back in 39 for a 4 over par 73. This was closely followed by Keith Moore with a 74. There followed six players with 76 in count back order: John Davies, Gerald Collins, Neil Hughes, Paul Izzard, Bob Setchell and Gareth Jones.

Storming through the field, however, was Stephen Hedges from Gog Magog GC, a new boy to CAGU this season. He shot a 70 gross to win the John Durman Scratch and Handicap Trophies going out in 35 and coming back in 35 shots. In the process slotting home 3 birdies.

Thanks must go to Craig Russell, Girton GC Competitions Secretary for collating the scores. Alan Henderson-Smith Captain Girton GC and John Durman for presenting the prizes.
