Gogs secure CAGU team treble

The Gog Magog achieved the last leg of the CAGU treble by winning the Goddard Cup at Saffron Walden yesterday.

They beat a weakened Ely City side who were missing four of their best players through injury or having other commitments.

The final score was a resounding 10.5 to 1.5 with Ely's only win coming from their star player Luke Ryan who had a very good win by 3 & 2 over Gog Magog's best player Nicholas Smits.

Gog's scratch team captain Dave Quinney was over the moon with his team's performances over the season. They have now won the Championship Shield, the Scratch Foursomes League and the Goddard Cup, the 1st club in Cambridgeshire to complete this unique treble in the history of CAGU.

The team now travel with high hopes to East Devon Golf Club in 2 weeks time to represent Cambridgeshire in the English Champion Club. The 3 man team is Ed Dimambro, the current County Champion, Nick Smits, and captain Dave Quinney.
