East Anglian Foursomes
Cambridgeshire golfer wins the East Anglian Foursomes with former CAGU County golfer at the Hunstanton Golf Club.
Colon Mynott, the St Neots Scratch team captain was playing with Alan Davie, previously of St Neots and CAGU, but now a member at Royal Blackheath in London.
They scored 31 +35 Stableford points in windy conditions on the Saturday, which placed them 3rd overall and into the top flight for Sunday.
Former Cambridgeshire County Champion Jody Greenall and his partner M Evans were placed 1st after Saturday with 69 points.
After being 4 up thru 6 holes on the Sunday morning, Colin and Alan narrowly won their semi-final match on the 18th hole.
The final on Sunday afternoon was against Ian Sperrin and Kelvin Burns (both Great Yarmouth and Caister), who had defeated Jody and partner on the 18th in the other semi-final.
The final was tight, and scrappy at times (a lot of tired swings!), but the Cambridgeshire pair won the 18th to take it to extra holes. Remarkably, the standard improved dramatically at this stage, and despite Kelvin having a 6 footer to win it on the 2nd extra hole, Alan hit a great approach to 15 foot on the 6th extra hole, which Colin holed for birdie to take the Championship.
Many congratulations from CAGU.
